# Get started with Aeon

Aeon is an agent that runs skills on a schedule with GitHub Actions in the user's own GitHub repo. This plugin connects to their Aeon agent through Aeon Connect (`https://www.aeon.fun/connect/mcp`).

## 1. Check the connection

Call `list_skills`.

- **It works:** go to step 2.
- **It asks to sign in, or fails with an auth error:** tell the user to connect Aeon (sign in with GitHub, then pick their agent on the "Connect an app" screen), then try again.
- **They have no agent yet:** send them to https://www.aeon.fun/connect to create one (about two minutes: sign in with GitHub, create the repo, connect a model). Then connect the plugin again.

It is how an instance stays current with `aeonfun/aeon` without a hand-run rsync-overlay rebase.

## Operating principles

- **PR, never push to `main`.** Every framework change ships as one reviewable PR. The operator merges.
- **Never clobber operator config.** `aeon.yml`, `STRATEGY.md`, `soul/`, `memory/`, `output/`, `.mcp.json` and the git-derived catalogs are instance-owned. Upstream changes to them are **surfaced for manual review in the PR body**, never written into the tree.
- **3-way, not blind overwrite.** A framework file the operator has already customized is **auto-merged** when its local edits and upstream's edits touch disjoint regions (a real `git merge-file` 3-way, S6); it is only listed as a **conflict** for a human when the same lines changed on both sides. This is what lets a hand-narrowed workflow keep receiving unrelated upstream fixes without a manual merge every run.
- **Silent when in sync.** Baseline == upstream HEAD ⇒ nothing to do, no notification.

## Aeon runtime integration

On Aeon this skill runs headless in a GitHub Actions job through the configured harness adapter, and `.github/workflows/aeon.yml` kills that job at 50 minutes. **The rules in this section override any upstream guidance below that conflicts with them** (sizing, timings, asking or telling the user, and where files are written). ## Overview

One skill, two ends of the same loop: **analyze** decides *what to enable* for a new watch target; **enable** actually flips the switch. Dispatch `enable:` with the slugs the analyze run put in its MUST tier and you close the loop — recommendation to merged PR — without a second skill.

Shared config (the field reference is in the comment block inside `memory/products.md`). `bd-radar` uses, per product: the **repos** (to find forks/issues), the **handles** (to find mentions/quote-tweets), and the **terms** (the product-name / tagline strings to search GitHub, X, HN, Reddit). ## Why this design

A hook binding is immutable and a bad hook can brick a pool or steal funds. So the gates sit BEFORE the deploy: two of them (`dry-run` then `arm:`), a mandatory simulation, and idempotent state. Everything after the broadcast is just recording what already happened — appended to `memory/state/hook-deploys.json` on `main`, no PR (there is nothing left to review). ## Why this design

This skill owns the whole contributor flywheel: **who deserves what** (plan) and **moving the money** (send). It is split into two phases that can run independently or chained.

**Plan phase — the wiring the project was missing.** Merged PRs already name the people moving the project, but shipped work had no path to a wallet credit. The plan phase is that wiring: it ranks contributors by the PRs they merged in the target week (straight from the GitHub API), prices each eligible contributor against a tier table, and writes a labelled list into `memory/distributions.yml` — the exact file the send phase reads. Keeping a human-visible diff on `memory/distributions.yml` between plan and execution is the cheapest possible audit trail when real money is involved: the plan lands in git, and the operator (or `all:` mode, or a chained step) runs the send next.

## Detection & auth

- **No `mcp__executor__*` tool callable** → the server isn't connected (or its secrets are missing, in which case the workflow logged a `::warning::` and skipped MCP). Log `EXEC_NOT_CONNECTED`, notify once pointing the operator at the dashboard → MCP → Connect Executor, and exit.
- **Tools exist but return 401/invalid-token** → the OAuth refresh failed (see `docs/mcp-oauth.md`). Log `EXEC_AUTH_STALE`, notify the operator to re-connect the server once in the dashboard, and exit.
