When your agent uses it
Build or refactor an Omarchy Quattro bar-widget implementation, including settings, orientation, popouts, instances and shared services. Use for widget QML or behaviour; global bar styling belongs to theme skills, and replacing the entire bar is outside this skill.

# Build an Omarchy bar widget
Inspect the existing manifest, widget and installed host. Use `BarWidget` and `WidgetButton`; preserve settings and behavior outside the requested change.
- Map `entryPoints.barWidget` to the real file and set `moduleName` to the plugin ID.
- Use `root.bar`, `root.settings` and `setting(key, fallback)`. Store ordinary options inline in `shell.json`, not in a nested `config` or separate settings file.
- Support horizontal and vertical bars. Keep selection, hover and open state per instance; share polling and cross-monitor data through a service only when needed.
- For a popout, expose `opened`, `open()` and `close()` and preserve anchor/settings injection. Check placement from the tray drawer as well as bar edges.
- Set `allowMultiple` only when independent concurrent instances make sense.
- Current Quattro accepts `left`, `centerBegin`, `center`, `centerEnd`, `right`, `tray` as `defaultSection`. Automatic placement maps `center` to `centerEnd`; use the side sections to sit beside the clock without shifting it. Check older hosts before relying on new sections.
Read [widget contract](references/widget-contract.md) for QML shape and [settings schema](references/settings-schema.md) when adding options. Use QML patterns for theme, translations and shared implementation; change global theme tokens through the theme workflow.
Verify affected pointer, keyboard, orientation, placement and failure paths. Report which live-host checks were observed and which remain unrun; portable validation alone does not prove popup geometry.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-panel-overlay

# Build an Omarchy panel, overlay or menu
Preserve the existing surface, payload and monitor contract for a targeted change. Choose `panel` for compact floating content, `overlay` for fullscreen transient UI, or `menu` for navigable actions. Read [lifecycle and windows](references/lifecycle-and-windows.md) before adding an entry point.
- Expose `open(payloadJson)`, `close()` and truthful `opened` state. Parse payloads defensively; repeated open must update/focus rather than duplicate windows.
- Release temporary requests, timers and exclusive focus on Escape, outside click, action completion and host hide. Hidden windows must not steal focus.
- Use overlay layer/exclusion behavior only where required. Choose the focused monitor or all monitors deliberately.
- Provide keyboard navigation and visible dismissal. Keep hit regions within the card and prevent backdrop click-through.
- Use host UI components, semantic theme tokens and plugin-owned translations. Keep slow work off the visible open path when a service already owns it.
Verify changed open, repeated-open, dismissal, focus and monitor behavior. Record unobserved host checks without treating stubs as live window evidence.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-plugin-debug

# Debug an Omarchy plugin
Start from the symptom and actual checkout. Diagnosis-only requests stay read-only; for repairs reproduce the failure, change the smallest responsible path and rerun the failing check.
Resolve `<skill-dir>` to this skill's directory:
```bash
python3 "<skill-dir>/scripts/doctor.py" /absolute/path/to/plugin
```
Use `--live` only on an Omarchy host for read-only IPC probes. Read [failure ladder](references/failure-ladder.md) to trace manifest/path → official validation → discovery → enabled state → QML load/injection → summon/IPC → external data → interaction/monitors.
For colour failures inspect `Commons.Color` qualification on Qt 6.12, then distinguish incorrect plugin bindings from shared palette/theme failures.

Read [reversible demo](references/reversible-demo.md) before a harness touches the live shell. Use existing authorization for live changes; preparing a harness alone does not authorize changing desktop state.
- Inject demo data explicitly and verify the running shell received it. Never commit real account data, credentials, notifications or personal paths.
- Back up config and installation with unique paths; refuse stale recovery artifacts.
- Restore config, plugin, workspace, cursor and normal shell on exit, failure or interruption. Retain recovery files and exact paths if restoration fails.
- Use an empty workspace and machine-readable readiness, not arbitrary long sleeps.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-plugin-design
When your agent uses it

# Design an Omarchy plugin
Read the installed Omarchy skill's `plugins.md` and the target host's commands before choosing an API. Use this bundle as deeper engineering guidance; preserve the installed system's contract. For the Agents-panel entry point and personal tweaks, see [host workflow](references/host-workflow.md).
1. Inspect the existing plugin and preserve settled identity, scope and state decisions. For a new idea, check built-ins, marketplace and public prior art; compare behavior, licence and maintenance before building.
2. Choose personal customization, public project or marketplace intent. Default to the requested local outcome; publication is a separate action. Clone a built-in for a small customization rather than scaffolding a replacement.
3. Choose the smallest useful surface and observable acceptance criteria. Read [kind selection](references/kind-selection.md) when choosing kinds. Use a permanent namespaced ID outside `omarchy.*`.
4. Assign transient state to each visual instance, shared polling to a service, ordinary settings to `shell.json`, and application data/credentials to their external owner.
5. Identify commands, packages, network, credentials, privileged setup and removal behavior. Read [integration boundaries](references/integration-boundaries.md) for agent, broker or privileged integrations; [adapter contracts](references/abstraction-contracts.md) for repeated process/network/storage operations.
Plugins have a root `manifest.json`, hosted QML entry points and user-level unsandboxed execution. Plugin add does not run installation hooks. Keep external setup explicit.
For design-only work, return the recommendation and tradeoffs. For a build, continue to implementation and relevant checks. Record decisions in the project's existing record only when continuity needs it; no prescribed planner, agent tools or handoff format is required.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-plugin-migrate

# Migrate an Omarchy integration
Read [migration map](references/migration-map.md). Inventory current writes, packages, processes, credentials, configuration and removal behavior before moving code. Preserve requested repository boundaries; separating responsibilities does not require two repositories or a rewrite.
- Move visual/shell lifecycle behavior into hosted QML with a root manifest and `Item` entry points; replace standalone `ShellRoot` surfaces.
- Keep CLI/daemon supervision, privileged helpers, packages, durable app data and credentials with their external owner. Probe missing, unsupported, unauthenticated, offline and ready states explicitly.
- `omarchy plugin add` clones/validates files and changes enabled state; it runs no installation hooks or sudo setup. Document explicit prerequisites or a separate package path.
- Use the external program's credential store. Do not move secrets into QML or `shell.json`.
- Verify upgrade/removal for each layer. Removing the shell plugin must not unexpectedly delete user data or unrelated packages.
For a plan, return responsibility mapping and lifecycle checks without implementation. For an authorized migration, patch the existing integration and test affected boundaries; report unavailable live/privileged checks while completing independent portable work.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-plugin-publish

# Prepare or submit an Omarchy marketplace listing
Read [marketplace submission](references/marketplace-submission.md) for the pinned contract. Before a remote submission/update, verify the current official destination, form, trigger and target SHA. If upstream is unavailable, prepare a draft and mark the contract unverified.
Inspect the root manifest, README, licence, preview and release evidence. Require public source, permanent non-`omarchy.*` ID, dependencies and install/removal instructions. Reconcile release preflight findings with actual code; compatibility checks do not settle security review.
Resolve `<skill-dir>` to this skill's directory to draft without publishing:

Read [release contract](references/release-contract.md) before tagging or publishing; read [preflight options](references/preflight-options.md) for renamed skill paths, tagged candidates and historical asset audits. A missing trusted validator remains a failed prerequisite.
- Bind root manifest version, notes, tested commit, tag and assets to the same candidate. Require a clean tree for release; never move a published tag.
- Verify the core journey, failures/recovery, official validation, live lifecycle, fresh installation, upgrade and removal on claimed Omarchy versions/architectures. Previous config/state fixtures must preserve settings or exercise a documented migration.
- Document dependencies, authentication, network, processes, writes and removal residue. Keep install/removal instructions symmetric and UI previews reproducible.
- Block readiness on unresolved security, data-loss or core-function failures. Describe tolerable non-core limitations and restrict support claims to observed evidence; no arbitrary waiting period or preview exemption applies.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-plugin-scaffold

Inspect the destination and retain agreed ID, kinds and scope. For a small built-in customization use `omarchy plugin clone <id>` and edit the user copy instead. Read the installed Omarchy guide first; never edit packaged shell files.
Resolve `<skill-dir>` to this skill's directory, independently of the project or agent host. For a minimal plugin:
```bash
python3 "<skill-dir>/scripts/new_plugin.py" \
--id io.github.owner.plugin-name --name "Plugin Name" \
--kind bar-widget --author "Author Name" --output /absolute/path/to/plugin
```
Repeat `--kind` only for implemented surfaces. Supported kinds: `bar-widget`, `panel`, `overlay`, `menu`, `service`, `bar`. The generator refuses a non-empty destination.

# Write hosted Omarchy QML
Inspect the installed host and closest working component. Use its contract rather than assuming the pinned examples fit every version.
- Use hosted `Item`/UI entry points, never a second `ShellRoot` or Quickshell process. Give late-injected host properties safe defaults rather than `required` declarations.
- Use `qs.Ui` components and semantic tokens. Import `qs.Commons as Commons` and qualify `Commons.Color.*`: Qt 6.12 adds a conflicting `Color` type. Keep the unqualified import too when using `Style`, `Util` or `Border`.
- Keep hover/selection/open state per visual instance; share polling and remote state through a service where needed.
- Set `Text.PlainText` for external text at every sink, including tooltips and nested delegates. Bound external data before displaying or saving it.
- Launch commands with argument arrays. If a shell is necessary, quote external values with `Util.shellQuote`. Keep secrets out of display properties, logs and environment dumps.
- Keep repeated network/process/storage policy in a narrow adapter with explicit errors and tests for its actual production path.

# Build an Omarchy service and IPC
Use one hosted `service` for shared state or work that survives a panel closing. Preserve the existing consumers and IPC API unless the request changes them. Read [service contract](references/service-contract.md); read [process safety](references/process-safety.md) when launching commands.
- Distinguish missing, unsupported, unauthenticated, loading, ready, empty, partial, offline and failed states when users need different actions.
- Make refresh idempotent. Bind asynchronous results to their owning request/generation so late completion cannot overwrite newer state or revive a disabled service.
- Bound polling, duration, response size, retries and error output. Stop or back off when prerequisites are absent.
- Keep credentials in the external program's store; query its status without copying or logging tokens.
- For messages, tasks or other private content crossing a process boundary, use the [stdin pattern](references/private-content.md); inspect descendant commands too.
- Put process/network/private-state operations behind narrow methods with explicit errors and cancellation. Avoid wrappers that expose arbitrary executables or destinations.
- Name IPC targets after the plugin ID. Expose small documented methods and bounded results; use the canonical shell target for shell lifecycle operations.
For external data, HTTP helpers, cancellation or mutable state, consult [reviewer boundaries](references/reviewer-boundaries.md). Verify affected ordering, failure, retry and cleanup paths against the actual code. Report any untested command or live integration.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-bar-widget

Load only relevant references: [host injection and facades](references/hosted-qml.md), [theme/orientation/monitors](references/theme-and-layout.md), [plugin translations](references/translations.md), [process and state](references/process-and-state.md), or [external-data review boundaries](references/reviewer-boundaries.md).
For a theme problem, fix the consumer or shared theme source that owns it. Verify affected behavior with fixtures and required repository checks; report Qt imports and live lifecycle as unrun unless observed on the target host.View the complete source on GitHubomarchy-service-ipc
When your agent uses it
Build or review a process-wide Omarchy Quattro QML service and IPC contract. Use when state, polling or command execution must survive a panel closing or be shared across widgets; use QML patterns for shared implementation details, not for generic systemd services.

Report any untested command or live integration.View the complete source on GitHubSkills included
