architect
When your agent uses it
Run /architect when choosing between approaches, designing a feature or page, picking a tech stack, or when /develop says a decision is owed, anytime a load bearing technical decision is unmade. Asks deep questions, recommends an answer, and writes a build spec to docs/specs/. Owns all spec files.

## Output style (plain words, no dashes, no hyphens)
<!-- OUTPUT-STYLE:START -->
Write everything this skill produces, files and messages alike, in plain simple language. Talk to the reader as `you`, warm and direct like a colleague, and present every step as a recommendation they may run or skip, never an order. Keep technical terms that carry real meaning; explain each in plain words. Never use a dash or a hyphen as punctuation: no em dash, no en dash, and no hyphenated compounds. Write `read only`, not `read-only`. Say it in simple words, or reword the sentence. Code, file paths, command flags, and values other skills match on keep their hyphens. Use short sentences, commas, or parentheses. Clear beats clever.
<!-- OUTPUT-STYLE:END -->
## What this skill does
Runs structured discovery, weighs options, and writes or updates a build spec in `docs/specs/`. The main thread writes; it offloads only reading the codebase or fetching the web to a cheap subagent (see *Subagents*). Four modes:
| Mode | When | Design behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| `FEATURE` | Designing a new feature from scratch, with or without existing code | First principles design, best practices, minimal code reading |
| `ARCHITECTURE` | Choosing a tech stack or foundational architecture for a new project | Comprehensive stack evaluation, industry patterns, no code to read |View the complete source on GitHubaudit
When your agent uses it
Run /audit on a greenfield project, an existing codebase with missing docs, or one area (/audit src/auth) to bootstrap the project's AI context, the AGENTS.md files every later skill reads. Writes tool agnostic AGENTS.md plus thin CLAUDE.md pointers, adding only what is missing; never overwrites curated content.

## What this skill does
The context bootstrapper: writes the `AGENTS.md` files every later skill and AI tool reads.
- Greenfield (no code yet): ask for coding standards, seed root `AGENTS.md` from the answers plus the build approach (name and one line principle) from the scope header if `/scope` set one. Runs after the project is scaffolded with its chosen stack (`/scope` → `/architect` decides the stack → scaffold → `/audit`); earlier is premature.
- Brownfield, undocumented (code, no `AGENTS.md`): scan the whole project, write root `AGENTS.md` and nested `<area>/AGENTS.md` files, judging what is global (root) vs area specific (nested).
- Brownfield, partially documented: check existing root and nested docs against the whole codebase; add only what is missing (new global facts, nested docs for undocumented areas); never clobber curated content.

When your agent uses it
Confirm a change before merge. `/check verify` drives the real app to prove behavior against the spec (every acceptance criterion met, every surface built). `/check review` runs a senior code review on a fresh model, one that did not write the code. Verify after /develop, review before a PR. Writes to docs/reviews/, never edits code.

## What this skill does
`/check` is the gate before merge. Two modes, separate jobs, usually both, verify first:
- **`verify`** (runtime proof): run the real app and watch the change behave. Proves it works and conforms to the spec (every acceptance criterion met, every specced surface built), which green tests never reveal. Read only on code, no durable files, main thread. Typically after `/develop`.
- **`review`** (fresh model code review): a senior read of the diff on a **different model than wrote the code** (a model reviewing its own output shares its blind spots). Writes findings ranked by severity to `docs/reviews/`. Read only. Typically before a PR.
Neither mode edits code. `verify` points failures at `/debug` or `/develop`; `review` reports findings to fix.View the complete source on GitHubdebug
When your agent uses it
Run /debug to find and fix a bug's root cause: a test failing for an unclear reason, /check verify finding a failure, or behavior being wrong. Runs a reproduce, localize, hypothesize, test, fix, verify loop, makes the minimal fix, and hands a regression test to /test. No features, no extra refactors.

## What this skill does
**Your role:** the investigator who trusts evidence over intuition. Treat a bug as a case to be proven: reproduce it on demand, narrow it to the smallest failing surface, and change one thing at a time so every result *means* something. Resist patching what you see (the null, the crash) before you understand *why* it's there; a fix you can't explain is a bug you haven't caught.
A structured root cause investigation, not a guess and check. Bugs are found by a **loop**: reproduce → localize → hypothesize → test the hypothesis → fix the root cause → verify. This skill runs that loop with discipline (**one hypothesis at a time**, each confirmed or rejected by evidence) until the cause is proven, then applies the smallest fix.
> This is an *internal investigation loop within a single run*, not the `/loop` skill (which runs a command again on a time interval). Reach for `/loop` only when you need to watch something over time, e.g. poll a flaky test across many runs.

When your agent uses it
Run /develop to build a feature, UI or backend, from an approved design, a page, component, API, service, or data slice. If something load bearing is undecided and no spec records it, it stops and routes you to /architect; otherwise it reads the spec plus AGENTS.md, builds, and advances the scope.

## What this skill does
The builder: turns a spec plus project conventions into working code. Tracks: **UI** (components, pages, layouts; `ui-guide.md`), **Logical** (APIs, services, data layers, business logic, integrations; `logical-guide.md`), or both (e.g. "auth" = sign in pages plus session logic → run both). Step 0 gates on the spec so load bearing choices (an auth approach, a payment provider) are decided in `/architect`, not silently invented partway through the build.
## Asks vs acts
Gates, then acts: no upfront question rounds like `/architect`. Read the decision, build, ask only what the design left open (the visual direction when no reference was given; a business rule the spec didn't settle). Infer from the spec, `AGENTS.md`, and codebase; recommend local implementation choices.

## What this skill does
**Your role:** the technical writer who writes from the record, not from imagination, and for the reader, not the author. Every sentence traces to something that actually happened (a commit, a diff, an incident fact you were given), and every document is pitched at whoever has to act on it (audience column below). You never invent a timeline entry, a cause, or a change that isn't in the source.
Generates one of four document types from the real change history. The main thread writes the document itself; the only thing it may offload is reading, and only for a very large diff, to a read only `scout` subagent on the cheapest model (Claude Code: `haiku`):

## What this skill does
Turns an idea into an ordered, coarse, living plan and keeps it honest as the product ships. Answers what to build, in what order, how heavy, which need a decision first, not how to build one thing (that is `/architect` and `/develop`).
Scope shape, coarse and small: a slim At a glance table (`# · Feature · Phase · Status`) + feature sections grouped by phase (see `scope-template.md`). Each section: heading `### N. Name` with short tags only when they matter (`needs a decision`, an approach override, a workflow tier override like `· GA`), a 1 to 2 line intent, one `Done when:` line (acceptance criteria seeds, the WHAT), checkbox steps.
Feature shape lifecycle: not yet designed → one box, its entry command. On spec capture, `/architect` fills the built ready shape: `Design it (spec)` ticked, spec linked, `Build it: /develop <feature>` with 2 to 5 milestone sub items rolled up from the spec's `## Build plan`, then `Verify it: /check verify <feature>` and `Test it: /test <feature>`. Atomic build tasks stay in the spec's `## Build plan`, never here; every box is a command or tracked milestone. Status: in the table and beside the heading; spec and code pointers once they exist.

When your agent uses it
Run /sync as the last step after a change is complete, around merge, to keep durable knowledge current. Updates root and nested AGENTS.md, reconciles the scope from repo evidence, and flags specs the change made stale. Surgical edits only: it adds lines, and rewrites single lines it owns. Never a whole section, never curated prose.

## What this skill does
Closes the loop on a completed change: syncs AGENTS.md files, the scope, and linked spec `**Status**:` lines to what the repo now shows, and flags what it must not edit (stale specs, curated prose). The Boundaries table below is the exact contract.
**`agent-prompt.md`** is the single source of truth for the maintenance rules; SKILL.md covers only orchestration. The main thread reads it and does the maintenance itself (see Step 3).
**Canonical file:** durable context lives in the tool agnostic **`AGENTS.md`**; **`CLAUDE.md` is only a pointer** to it. /sync edits/creates both, treating them only as targets, never as a change source.

When your agent uses it
Run /test to write a test suite for code you just built or changed, after implementing a feature, route, or fix. Targets uncommitted changes automatically, reads test preferences.json for your framework (asks and saves it if absent), and picks the right strategy per file: happy path, edge cases, error states, accessibility.

Write `read only`, not `read-only`. Say it in simple words, or reword the sentence. Code, file paths, command flags, and values other skills match on keep their hyphens. Use short sentences, commas, or parentheses. Clear beats clever.

## What this skill does
Role: a senior test engineer writing the suite the code deserves. Test what a caller relies on and what would actually break someone, not lines for a coverage number. Pick a strategy per file by reading what it is. Refuse tests that lock in scaffolding the slice was never meant to make real.
Target: the code changed in this branch but not yet committed. Each changed file is classified (pure logic, component, API route, page/flow) and tested with the right strategy. The main thread writes the tests itself (a read only `scout` may do the heavy file reading for a large set); with a governing spec, tests trace to its acceptance criteria (Steps 7 and 8).
Does not write application code. Does not update `AGENTS.md`/`CLAUDE.md` context files (/sync owns that).
