How it works
animaxxing
When your agent uses it
Build GSAP motion without restyling, as single effects or the full treatment: for "we're animaxxing", every element enters from a blank page, rests, and leaves. Text: split, scramble, glitch, typewriter, and speak-in entrances, scattering headlines, letter waves, text on a path, count-ups, odometers. Scroll: reveals, scrubbing, parallax, pinned scenes, stacking cards, zoom-through, horizontal runs, waypoints, smooth scroll, paging. Pointer: magnetic, tilt, spotlights, directional fills, press ripples, shakes, cursor followers, image trails, proximity, label rolls, underlines, weight hovers. Drag: throw tracks, endless loops, card stacks, sortable lists, swipe to dismiss. Also page covers, print effects, Flip morphs, menus, dialogs, tabs, state buttons, media and SVG effects, marquees, CustomEase, sound, confetti, particles, and hover stuck on touch. Also finds a feel: premium, calm, playful. Pair with the matching GSAP framework skill. Not for visual redesign, routing, or GSAP API questions.

# Animaxxing
Portable vanilla TypeScript and GSAP effect recipes. Keep the project's fonts, colors, layout, and component styling; no style skill, token, or font is required.
Load the matching `gsap-<framework>` skill first (`gsap-vanilla` for plain sites), installing it if missing. It owns **mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**, initialization, navigation, recovery, interruption, and cleanup timing. This skill supplies builders its controller calls; do not invent lifecycle guidance here.
## Choose the scope
- **Full treatment.** "We're animaxxing", "animax this", or "full treatment" means every element on every screen animates, keeping the brand. Each element starts from a blank first paint, enters (intro), rests static or ambient (settled), and leaves (outro) on every requested navigation. Content below the fold enters when it is scrolled or tabbed to. Mark every element as a page item ([route letters](references/recipes/route-letters.md)) or give it a pair from [the shelf](references/motion-vocabulary.md#the-shelf-paired-entrances-and-exits); the framework skill keeps the first paint blank. Record the decision in the project's plan or notes so later sessions keep it.
- **Single effects.** A named effect gets only that effect. A particle button does not imply a page transition, font change, or hero sequence.
- **A feel, or no effect named.** "Make it feel premium", "add some animation": read [Finding the vibe](references/finding-the-vibe.md) before choosing any effect. Read the feel from the project, then say the plan in a line or two before building.
- **Unclear.** When the project's own cues settle the feel and how much motion it wants, say the plan in a line or two and build. Ask only when they don't, and then once: "Full treatment on every element, or only <effect>?", folding in the feel if that is open too.
- The full treatment still follows reduced motion, no-script readability, and the framework skill's initialization and lifecycle.

When your agent uses it
Add GSAP-driven WebGL to a site without restyling it, on one shared OGL renderer and canvas per document. Image planes track each img for a hover lens, scroll-velocity wave, wipe, glitch, dissolve, pixelation, and ripple. Framed views draw in an element's box: a camera flight through a 3D spiral of images, GPU particles morphing between shapes, a liquid image, and liquid-metal drops that melt into a word or pour down a page. GSAP tweens shader uniforms. The real img, or a poster img for a view, stays the accessible content and the fallback when WebGL is missing, the context is lost, an image lacks CORS, or motion is reduced. Use for WebGL image effects, shader hover, 3D scroll flights, particle morphs, liquid hover, uniform tweens, or keeping a canvas alive across routes. Pair with the matching GSAP framework skill for lifecycle timing. Not for glTF models, physics, DOM-only effects (use animaxxing), branding, or GSAP API questions.

# Animaxxing WebGL
Vanilla TypeScript recipes that let GSAP drive WebGL. A plane draws each image in its exact box; a framed view draws a scene, particles, or a liquid surface in an element's box. GSAP tweens their shader uniforms. The page stays the DOM: the real `<img>`, or a view's poster `<img>`, keeps its alt text, layout, and links, and shows itself whenever WebGL cannot draw.
Load the matching `gsap-<framework>` skill first (`gsap-vanilla` for plain sites), installing it if missing. It owns **mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**, initialization, navigation, recovery, and cleanup timing. Its `references/transition-archetypes.md`, **Persistent WebGL canvas**, covers keeping the canvas alive across routes. DOM-only effects live in the `animaxxing` skill; this skill never requires it.
## Renderer: OGL
The recipes use [OGL](https://github.com/oframe/ogl) 1.x. Measured with esbuild for the classes these recipes use (renderer, program, mesh, plane geometry, texture, scene), minified and gzipped: OGL 1.0.11 is 14.5 KB, three.js r186 is 133 KB, because three's `WebGLRenderer` pulls in most of the library. The image recipes need 2D planes in pixel space with custom shaders; the framed views add a camera, a render target, and point geometry, with no lights, materials, or loaders. OGL's `Program`, `Mesh`, `Plane`, `Camera`, `RenderTarget`, and `Texture` map one to one onto that. It does not handle context loss, so the stage does: it rebuilds its renderer and every layer on restore.
If the project already ships three.js, port the recipes rather than add OGL: `ShaderMaterial` for `Program` (same uniform objects), `PlaneGeometry` for `Plane`, `Texture` for `Texture`, a `Scene` and any camera with the recipes' pixel-space vertex shader, and `dispose()` calls for the deletes. three.js restores lost contexts itself, so drop the rebuild and keep the DOM fallback.

When your agent uses it
Build or review Astro animation: GSAP page transitions, ClientRouter swap hooks, persisted islands, repeated setup, and cleanup. Use for missing or duplicated motion after navigation and choosing transition:animate versus GSAP. Without ClientRouter, use gsap-vanilla. Also covers hidden-content recovery and first-load performance. Not for standalone island frameworks or isolated GSAP API questions.

# GSAP Astro
**mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**
Without `<ClientRouter />`, use `gsap-vanilla` for full document loads. With it, mount and unmount correspond to body swaps; module scripts, global listeners, timelines, and persisted elements can survive. Animation owns the five phases between swaps.
Keep the requested look and existing project conventions. Add GSAP/plugins only as needed; do not replace the chosen animation library unless asked.
This skill decides when motion runs. For what moves, and for a feel such as premium or playful, also load the `animaxxing` skill when it is installed: its recipes and its guide to finding the vibe plug into this lifecycle.

Mount and unmount belong to React; animation owns the five phases between them. With `cacheComponents`, treat route hide as unmount and re-show as mount on preserved DOM.
## Start with the project
Read repository instructions, existing animation, layouts, navigation, CSS, accessibility conventions, and checks. Then:

Build or review Nuxt 3/4 animation: GSAP pageTransition and layoutTransition hooks, component enter/exit, scroll effects, keepalive, and cleanup. Use for interrupted navigation, missing done callbacks, or choosing Vue CSS and View Transitions, even when GSAP is unnamed. Also covers hidden-content recovery and first-load performance. Not for plain Vue or isolated GSAP API questions.

# GSAP Nuxt
**mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**
Mount and unmount belong to Vue; animation owns the five phases between them. During a Nuxt page leave, the component is torn down while its root element remains until `done`. The transition hooks (`css: false`) must own the outro independently of component cleanup.

# GSAP React Router
**mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**
Mount and unmount belong to React; animation owns the five phases between them. React Router has no leave hook: hold navigation with a blocker or intercept it before it starts. Parameter changes can reuse the route element.
Keep the requested look and existing project conventions. Add GSAP/plugins only as needed; do not replace the chosen animation library unless asked.

# GSAP SvelteKit
**mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**
Mount and unmount belong to Svelte; animation owns the five phases between them. SvelteKit reuses pages on parameter changes and preserves shared layouts, so a new page lifecycle need not mean a new node.

# Animaxxing Style
The look of [Animaxxing](https://github.com/johnpolacek/animaxxing): black, white, neutral gray, oversized sans against small uppercase mono, hairline rules, scattering letters, and particle-assembled controls.
This skill owns visual design and selects how motion supports it. `animaxxing` supplies the reusable vanilla TypeScript and GSAP recipes. The matching `gsap-<framework>` skill (including `gsap-vanilla`) owns **mount → initial state → intro → settled → outro → end state → unmount**, navigation, interruption, and cleanup timing.
## Choose the scope
- Apply a full restyle only when the request authorizes it; preserve an existing brand otherwise. An explicit Animaxxing redesign needs no further confirmation.
- For the full treatment, install and load `animaxxing` and the matching framework skill, then use the surface choices below. If either is unavailable, identify the missing skill; do not invent its recipes or lifecycle guidance.
- For the design with minimal or no animation, apply the tokens and layout and reduce or omit display effects. Do not require a motion skill or GSAP for a static restyle.
- For effects on another brand, use `animaxxing` directly without applying these fonts, colors, or layout rules.
