# Competitive Analysis Framework
## Overview
This skill provides a systematic 11-section framework for analyzing company competitiveness, producing institutional-quality investment research. The framework incorporates geopolitical supply chain resilience as a distinct competitive dimension, reflecting the 2026 environment where domestic/friend-shored supply chains represent meaningful competitive advantages. The output consists of a one-page visual infographic summary followed by detailed analytical sections.
## Workflow
### Step 1: Information Gathering
Collect necessary information about the company and industry:
- Company name, ticker symbol, and business description
- Recent financial filings (10-K, 10-Q, investor presentations)
- Industry reports and competitive landscape dataView the complete source on GitHubcorporate-network-analysis
When your agent uses it
Systematic framework for analyzing corporate networks to generate investment alpha. Use when analyzing supplier-customer relationships, director interlocks, executive networks, insider holdings patterns, or identifying M&A signals through board connections. Triggers on supply chain analysis, customer momentum, board interlock, director network, connected party analysis, relationship mapping, or network-based investment research.

# Corporate Network Analysis
Exploit slow information diffusion through supply chain relationships and director interlocks to identify predictable stock returns. Academic research shows customer momentum yields ~150bps monthly alpha; board centrality generates ~4.68% annual risk-adjusted returns.
## Core Investment Theses
1. **Supply Chain Momentum**: When a customer gets a big order, upstream suppliers benefit with a lag (40% of shock diffuses over subsequent months)
2. **Director Interlock Signals**: Shared board members facilitate information flow, M&A activity, and strategic alignment
3. **Cross-Holding Synergies**: Executives/directors with positions in multiple companies may orchestrate beneficial strategic moves
## Workflow
### Phase 1: Identify Target Company Networks

When your agent uses it
Institutional-quality earnings analysis for public equities. Parses 10-Qs, earnings releases, and call transcripts into a 4-layer framework (Parse → Compare → Diagnose → Decide), runs a mechanical scoring engine that produces a composite verdict across beat quality, operational health, and management signals, and outputs a one-page earnings sheet, full memo (Word doc), risk map, or trade note. Use when asked to analyse earnings, review quarterly results, parse a 10-Q, summarise an earnings call, assess earnings quality, evaluate beat/miss dynamics, diagnose guidance changes, or produce a post-print memo. Triggers include "what did [company] report", "how were earnings", "earnings surprise", "quarter review", "results analysis", "post-print analysis". Do NOT use for DCF models, long-term thesis work, technical analysis, or metals analysis — use the dedicated skills for those.

# Earnings Analysis: Institutional-Quality Quarterly Review Framework
## Overview
This skill transforms raw earnings materials (filings, releases, transcripts) into structured investment-grade analysis. It moves beyond simple beat/miss reporting to diagnose *why* results deviated, *what matters* for the forward thesis, and *what action* follows — the way a senior buyside analyst processes a quarter.
**Philosophy**: The market doesn't pay for knowing what happened. It pays for knowing what changed, whether it's repeatable, and what's mispriced. Every earnings analysis must answer: "So what? What do I do now?"
**Two-part architecture.** The skill is a four-layer analytical framework (Parse → Compare → Diagnose → Decide) anchored by a Python scoring engine at `scripts/score_earnings.py` that produces a mechanical composite verdict, flag inventory, and expectations regime classification. The scorer runs at the end of Step 2 and anchors the judgment work in Steps 3 and 4 — it is an input to the diagnosis, not a replacement for it.

When your agent uses it
Read and extract content from PDF investment reports — sell-side notes (GS/MS/JPM/UBS/Citi/BofA), 10-Ks, annual reports, fund factsheets, manager commentaries, and macro outlooks. Specialises in CHARTS, TABLES, and IMAGES that text-only extraction silently misses (most research charts are vector and invisible to pdfimages). Handles MULTI-REPORT TRIANGULATION when 2+ reports cover the same name, comparing forecasts, valuation methods, and surfacing coverage gaps. When the user has a company of interest and uploads sector or industry reports alongside company-specific notes, MINES the sector reports for company-specific tables and exhibits and treats them as direct evidence. Use whenever a PDF investment report is uploaded and the user wants to summarise, query, extract from, compare reports, or dig a company out of an industry note. Trigger phrases include "read this broker note", "summarise this 10-K", "what does this report say about X", "pull the price target", "compare these reports".

# Investment Report Reader
**Version: 3.3** — adds missing-report detection, the EPS/PT/spot three-way race diagnostic (Rule 13), broadens Rule 12 from framework-switch to definition-switch, lowers the sector-mining threshold to single-paragraph mentions, requires bull-case sanity-checks against prior-cycle peaks, requires unit-consistency checks across estimate trajectories, and adds the unstated-falsifier prompt to every playbook. See changelog at the end of this file.
A specialised PDF reading skill for investment research documents. Built on top of the public `pdf-reading` skill but tuned for the specific structure, vocabulary, and extraction targets of investment reports.
## When this skill applies
Trigger on any PDF that is:
- **Sell-side research** — broker notes, initiations, company updates, sector primers, strategy notes
- **Company filings** — annual reports, 10-K / 10-Q / 20-F, interim reports, prospectuses
- **Fund documents** — factsheets, monthly/quarterly commentaries, KIIDs, holdings reports
- **Buy-side internal research** — investment memos, IC papers, pitch books
- **Macro / strategy** — house view documents, outlook reports, central bank publicationsView the complete source on GitHubsupply-chain-pass-through
When your agent uses it
Map listed-equity beneficiaries of a secular trend across the supply chain, then substantiate each with earnings call evidence (backlog, book-to-bill, guide raises, Q&A admissions, mix shifts). Decomposes multi-mechanism themes into sub-themes, flags cost-bearer nodes, subtracts captive capacity, and classifies each node as value captor, volume taker, optionality, or cost bearer. Use when asked "who benefits from X", "supply chain beneficiaries", "pass-through analysis", "thematic basket", "pick and shovel", "trace this trend", "map the value chain", "which companies are exposed to", or any request starting from a macro driver and asking for downstream equity beneficiaries. Also triggers on "substantiate with earnings calls" or checking whether a company actually captures benefit vs merely transits volume. Pairs with bg-lens for single-name deep dives and earnings-analysis for individual prints.

# Supply Chain Pass-Through (v2)
## Purpose
Given a secular trend, produce a mechanically-derived chain of listed beneficiaries and substantiate each link with concrete earnings evidence. The output is a thesis-grade thematic map that a PM can defend in an IC — not a vague "themes we like" list.
The skill's value is as much in what it **refuses to include** as in what it recommends. Naive baskets are always bigger than correct ones; the pass-through analysis is an anti-bullshit filter on thematic investing.
## Core principles
### 1. Two meanings of pass-through
- **Trend pass-through**: how the driver mechanically reaches each layer of the chain.
- **Value pass-through**: whether a company *captures* the benefit or merely *transits* it to customers or input suppliers.View the complete source on GitHubthematic-investment-research
