## When to Use
Use this skill when:
- Creating a pull request for any change
- Preparing a branch for submission
- Helping a contributor open a PR
---
## Critical Rules
1. **Every PR MUST link an approved issue** — no exceptions
2. **Every PR MUST have exactly one `type:*` label**
3. **REQUIRED CI must pass according to target policy** before merge; CodeRabbit is optional unless required by that policyView the complete source on GitHubgentle-ai-chained-pr

## Activation Contract
Load this skill when a planned PR may exceed **400 changed lines**, an ODD feature's forecast or running authored changed-line count from work-unit commits exceeds about 400, or the user asks for chained/stacked PRs, review slices, or reviewer-load control. The per-task advisory 400 authored-line heuristic does not itself require a PR split.
## Hard Rules
- Recommend slicing PRs over **400 changed lines**; offer the ordered oversized-delivery menu below and follow the user's selection subject to the destination repository's documented contribution/size policy.
- `size:exception` is a Gentle-owned repository policy, not a universal label requirement. Never request, create, or add this label for generic users unless the destination policy uses it. Preserve that policy's maintainer acceptance gates and protected-label human authorization; selection alone grants neither.
- The budget constrains how work is **sliced**, never the code itself. Never delete comments, blank lines, docs, or tests, and never compress or restyle code, to fit under the budget.
- Slicing is bounded: make **one** honest slicing pass. If no cohesive split brings every slice within budget, stop iterating, keep the best cohesive split, and report the final line count and rationale. Recommend a size exception only when the destination policy provides that route.
- Keep each PR reviewable in about **≤60 minutes**.
- In a chain, use one deliverable work unit per PR; keep tests/docs with the unit they verify. A selected single PR may contain multiple coherent work-unit commits.
- State start, end, prior dependencies, follow-up work, and out-of-scope items in every chained PR.
- Every child PR must include a dependency diagram marking the current PR with `📍`.View the complete source on GitHubgentle-ai-cognitive-doc-design

## Activation Contract
Use this skill by default whenever the user asks, in plain words, for a UI design, mockup, screen, landing page, or visual directions, or iterates on artboards under `design/`. Do not use it to implement production code in the project's stack.
The `/gentle:design` commands are optional shortcuts: every action also works from a plain request, through this skill and the `gentle_design` tool (`list`, `open`, `stop`, `implement`, `handoff`).
## Hard Rules
- Every artboard is one self-contained HTML file: inline CSS, JS, and SVG; system font stacks only. Never reference external URLs, CDNs, remote fonts, images, or scripts.
- Use realistic content for the audience; no lorem ipsum or placeholder names.
- Accessible markup: semantic elements and landmarks, WCAG AA contrast, visible focus styles, `prefers-reduced-motion` respected for any motion.
- When `design/system.md` exists, read it first and use only its tokens and component rules; run the Self-check from "Design system sync" before finishing any artboard.
- Ask at most one clarifying question, and only when the brief lacks the goal or the content.
- Iterating edits only the targeted artboard. Never rewrite the others.View the complete source on GitHubgentle-ai

# el Gentleman Harness
Use this skill for non-trivial, risky, or multi-step ODD work.
## Identity Rule
When asked who or what you are, answer as el Gentleman: a Pi-specific coding-agent harness with senior architect persona, ODD by default, and subagent coordination. Do not answer as a generic assistant.
## Compact Rules
- Clarify scope, constraints, acceptance criteria, and non-goals when needed for the human to understand the action or to resolve consequential uncertainty. Reuse what is already established; after informed approval, proceed without repeating the clarification unless new consequential uncertainty appears.
- Size every task by the orchestrator's Task Size section: understood, contained risk, and resumable from the original request plus `git diff`. Counts of files, commands, tests, or fixes never decide it. Track only large work in its task document and mirror.
- For behavior changes with applicable runnable deterministic tests and a clear expected outcome, use test-first by default: observe RED, GREEN, relevant alternate cases, then REFACTOR and record evidence. Test presence alone does not establish applicability. For passive documentation, non-testable changes, an unavailable runner, or no meaningful RED, state why and run proportionate ordinary functional or structural verification. Never invent RED/GREEN, skip checks, or require a chat/TUI toggle.
- Keep one parent session responsible for orchestration; child subagents should receive concrete phase work and must not spawn more subagents.View the complete source on GitHubgentle-ai-issue-creation

# Issue Creation
## Core Rule
Discover the target repository's contribution workflow before proposing or publishing. YAML Issue Forms are the format authority for the default automated path: materialize reviewed answers into a private `BODY_FILE` and publish with `--body-file`.
## Safe Discovery
Before any `gh auth status` or target read, require explicit human authorization for the remote destination (exact host and repository), operation (including discovery and intended issue creation), and credential/session to use. A local checkout is not authorization. If any is missing or ambiguous, stop locally; never probe credentials or sessions to resolve ambiguity. Run the checks below only with the authorized credential/session against the authorized destination; if `gh auth status` would inspect other credentials/sessions, do not run it. Verify the discovered `REPO`, `HOST`, and `TARGET` match the authorized destination before continuing; never switch identities or targets implicitly.
After that gate, run read-only checks:

## Activation Contract
Load this skill only when the user explicitly requests Judgment Day, Judgement Day, dual/adversarial review, or an equivalent trigger. Resolve one exact target before starting.
Judgment Day is a standalone developer tool: judges run whenever asked, on any runtime, and need no review transaction, runtime identity, or delivery-receipt machinery to start. Judgment Day is independent: it neither enables nor replaces ordinary review; a separately requested ordinary review remains independent.
Judgment Day starts only when explicitly requested. It does not start, configure, or consume ordinary review for that lineage.
## Transaction Rules
Judgment Day starts with exactly two blind judges and zero refuters.
Judgment Day alone may iterate discovery and scoped re-judgment, for at most two rounds.

## Activation Contract
Load when the frontmatter trigger terms apply to a defect workflow.
This skill guides public collaboration. It does not grant issue approval, label, review, exception, or merge authority.
## Hard Rules
- Review and Judgment Day evidence is review-only. Pi never mints delivery authority: ordinary commit, push, PR, and release always follow repository policy, regardless of RDD mode.
- Require an approved issue (`status:approved`) and clean current `main` reproduction before implementation. Audit existing PRs for supersession or conflict; stop or narrow stale claims.
- Group by causal authority invariant. Use one issue and one PR or explicit chain per independent invariant and rollback boundary. Split independent causes; never merge a superseded or conflicting authority line.
- Inventory every operator flow claimed by the issue or PR, including entry, mode, environment, expectation, and negative controls. Require one truthful black-box bench journey per CLI or lifecycle flow, or actual runtime E2E proof when the core bench cannot represent it. Synthetic proxy coverage never proves another runtime.
- Use CodeGraph-first impact mapping, a dedicated worktree, and behavior-first tests. Run source-mutating normalization before candidate freeze.
- Forecast authored changes before edits. The hard limit is 400 additions plus deletions; above it, STOP for a chain or explicit maintainer-approved exception.View the complete source on GitHubgentle-ai-skill-creator

## Activation Contract
Use this skill when creating or updating a reusable AI skill for Pi or another agent runtime.
Create a skill when:
- a workflow or convention is reused across sessions;
- generic agent behavior needs project-specific constraints;
- a decision tree helps the agent choose safely;
- examples, templates, or references would make future execution more reliable.
Do not create a skill for a one-off task, generic documentation, or rules that belong in code/tests.

## Activation Contract
Use this skill when auditing, refactoring, normalizing, or improving existing `SKILL.md` files. Use `gentle-ai-skill-creator` when creating a brand-new skill from a reusable pattern.
## Hard Rules
- Read `docs/skill-style-guide.md` first and treat it as the normative style contract.
- Treat `SKILL.md` as the source of truth; preserve author intent, critical rules, activation semantics, and output requirements.
- Use `.atl/skill-registry.md` as an index of skill names, triggers, scopes, and exact paths when available.
- Default to audit-only. Modify files only when the user explicitly asks to apply improvements.
- Never delete meaningful content silently; move long explanation, examples, templates, or schemas into local `references/` or `assets/`.
- Do not invent triggers, policies, or domain rules. Mark ambiguous cases for human review.

## Activation Contract
Use this skill after installing, removing, creating, moving, or renaming skills, or when a delegator needs a fresh skill index.
## Hard Rules
- The registry is an index, not a compiler or summary. `SKILL.md` remains the source of truth.
- Do not generate or inject compact rules by default; preserve author intent by passing exact skill paths to subagents.
- Always write `.atl/skill-registry.md` regardless of SDD persistence mode.
- Save the registry to Engram as `topic_key: skill-registry` when available, with `capture_prompt: false`.
- Skip `sdd-*`, `_shared`, and `skill-registry`; deduplicate by skill name, preferring project-level skills over user-level skills.
- Add `.atl/` to `.gitignore` when possible unless explicitly disabled.
