How it works

storage-rescue

When your agent uses it

Free up storage on a Mac without losing data. Two modes - Offload (move files to an external drive, verified by checksum, then delete them from the Mac) and Reclaim (no drive; delete caches and things the user does not need). The agent asks the user before every move or deletion. Use when the user says the disk is full, wants to free space, asks what "System Data" is, wants to archive old projects, movies, models or backups to an external or NTFS drive, or wants a safe cleanup. macOS only.

# Storage Rescue

Free space on a Mac while guaranteeing that nothing the user still needs is lost. Two modes:

- **Offload mode**: the user has an external drive. Large, rarely used files are copied to the drive, verified byte for byte by reading them back from the drive, and only then deleted from the Mac.
- **Reclaim mode**: there is no drive. Nothing is moved; what goes is deleted. That covers caches and build output that programs regenerate, plus anything the user decides they no longer want. Personal files pass through the Trash first, and emptying it is the user's last confirmation.

The first question decides the mode: is there an external drive to move files to? Both modes can run in one session: offload the user's files, then reclaim caches.

**The user decides, the agent proposes.** Every move and every deletion is preceded by a question the user answered. The agent finds things, explains them, and asks; it never acts on its own judgment of what the user "obviously" does not need.
