When your agent uses it
Product design skill for developers who build with AI coding agents. Use when you need to know what to build before prompting your agent — domain model, workflows, edge cases, product states, and UX gaps handled upfront. Works alongside Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Pi. Any stack, any UI library. Do NOT use for visual styling, pixel layouts, or writing app source.

# Lamina — For Developers Who Build with AI
**Design how it works.**
Lamina runs alongside your AI coding agent — Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Pi. It helps you know what to build before you prompt: edge cases, UX gaps, product states, and invariants in a transactional product graph your agent implements. Verified with isolated Persona Missions after you ship. Does not write your app source.
## When to use
Invoke Lamina when the task involves:
- New features where domain rules, user behavior, and system invariants all matter
- Multi-step flows (onboarding, checkout, settings, wizards)
- Permission-sensitive or multi-actor interactions
- Empty states, error handling, or edge cases tied to business rulesView the complete source on GitHublamina
When your agent uses it
Route ordinary product implementation and explicit Lamina lifecycle requests. Use passively after initialization for changes to product behavior, flows, permissions, states, failures, or UI; skip purely mechanical maintenance.

Use this as the compact Lamina router. The public catalog has four workflow
skills and six capability skills. Load only the entrypoint and topic references
needed for the current request.
Before graph work, read
[the CLI prerequisite](orchestrator/prerequisites/cli-required.md). `/lamina-init`
is the one explicit onboarding action. After initialization, ordinary product
implementation language is the primary route.

Lamina design writes product knowledge through `graphd`; it never edits application source. Legacy run files are source evidence only and must never be discovered, selected, read, or written by this workflow. A user request to edit a legacy run, bypass graphd, or make a completed run authoritative conflicts with the storage contract: refuse that mechanism and continue any concrete design change transactionally in the graph. Absence of a legacy artifact is not a blocker.
## Gate
First read and apply
`../lamina/orchestrator/prerequisites/cli-required.md`. Stop before all
mutations unless the CLI API 1 prerequisite passes.
Require a valid `.lamina/business-context.md`. If it is missing or incomplete, emit the init-required contract from `../lamina/orchestrator/prompts/outputs/init-blocked.md` and stop. Business documents and `.lamina/personas.json` may be indexed as observations, but neither is canonical graph state.
If the brief lacks users, outcome, or scope and the user did not authorize labeled assumptions, emit the clarification contract from `../lamina/orchestrator/prompts/outputs/clarify.md` and stop before mutations.

Before any evidence or graph mutation, read and apply
`../lamina/orchestrator/prerequisites/cli-required.md`.
Read `../lamina/orchestrator/audit-profiles.yaml`. Load the `init.always`

For a directory that is not yet a Git project, initialize Git metadata as
specified by that prerequisite before writing evidence. Do not ask for or

Verification reads the active GraphVersion and publishes runtime Evidence through isolated Mission sessions. It never discovers, selects, or mutates the active GraphVersion.
Verification Missions are the runtime replay of Persona-bound Experience

must discover and expand new-feature flows before implementation begins.
